On April 14, two men entered Asma Firdous' home, cut off six of her fingers, slashed her arms and lips and then sliced off her nose. Before leaving the house, the men locked their 28-year-old victim inside.

Asma, from impoverished Kohaur Junobi village in Pakistan's south, was mutilated because her husband was involved in a dispute with his relatives, and they wanted revenge.

Our President has been using the words "balance and fairness" frequently over the past few weeks or so while trying to explain our difficulty with the debt limit and the difference between him and the other side in facing that difficulty. According to the President, those people who earn more than $200,000 or a couple who earns more than $250,000 should contribute a little more in taxes. Businesses that are taking advantage of loop holes in the tax regulations should also pay more and those loop holes closed.

I would like to thank each and everyone of you who came to the school board meeting August 1st.  You might think you didn't make a difference but you did.  Your moral support for the board members who are trying to the right thing was great.  What is refreshing is some of these board members don't have a hidden agenda and they don't waste our time going on and going about nothing.  It was great to get some free publicity for Tea Party Manatee in the newspaper.  read more»

NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth's atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.         read more»
