Legislation to Safeguard Local Control of Textbooks
Passes Senate Committee on Education

Tallahassee–The Florida Senate Committee on Education, chaired by Senator John Legg (R-Lutz), today passed Senate Bill 864, Instructional Materials for K-12 Public Education. Sponsored by Senator Alan Hays (R-Umatilla), SB 864 provides that the district school board has the constitutional duty and responsibility to select and provide adequate instructional materials for all students.

Senate Bill 864 affirms local control of instructional materials by repealing the statewide instructional materials review and adoption process and requiring a district school board or consortium of school districts to implement an instructional materials program. The legislation requires the local district school board, rather than the statewide commissioner of education, to conduct an independent investigation to determine the accuracy of district-adopted instructional materials.  clientuploads/FL BOE.jpeg

Operation American Spring May 16, 2014

Here is a statistic for you:  8% of the U.S. population over time has served in the military.  Currently less than 1% do.

Some of us have not given up on defending our country, heritage or the constitution.  Are you one of them?  Are you willing or unwilling?  Now is the time to decide.

Many of you have heard of the American Spring being held in Washington D.C. on May 16th and I have placed a link to their website  at the end of this message that has much worthwhile information.  In particular for those attending the tab "D.C. Travel & Lodging" will be helpful.

I have not seen much information coming from the various the local Conservative Groups on this and I would like to see that changed.  For those leaders that are on this email, I would request that you inform your members and allow them the opportunity to make a decision.

Please go to the website (linked below) as they also have a tab "Dispelling OAS Rumors".  We must remember that there are those out there who will spread propaganda around without reviewing the facts.  So...........get the facts.

It is time for all the splintered groups to unify and American Spring 2014 gives "we the people" an opportunity to do so. This movement is apolitical.  All citizens are welcomed as it is a demonstration for all who believe in our founding documents, and the belief that they form the guidance in which to govern.  We will be there to send a strong message that "we the people" believe in the constitution and that our elected representative must begin to follow it!

This is the time to make a statement by implementing action.  Sitting around and talking about it does not get it done.  Complaining about what is going on does nothing to change it.  It is time to take responsibility and no longer depend on someone else to get it done.  It is up to "YOU".  Are you up to the challenge?

Hope to see you there.

Kevin G. Maddy
